Long bio

Justin Mackay is an Australian Defence Force veteran and founder in Western Australia. He founded Volka Pty Ltd, the company behind Metcard, the live digital business card. He co-founded Zeeën, a social ecosystem for real life, and is the founder, director and master distiller of Bonnet Distilling Co.

After leaving the ADF, Justin went through what he calls a period of loss of identity, as the community that came with service fell away. Zeeën grew out of that: it helps people get to know their own community in real life. He spoke to The Canberra Times about loneliness for a story that ran on the front page of the Sunday paper in October 2026.

At Bonnet he makes handcrafted spirits, including Ochre Sky single malt whisky, DrySpell and SpicyBuoy gins and Lemon Myrtle vodka. DrySpell Gin won silver and SpicyBuoy bronze at the 2024 Australian Gin Awards.
